React is ❤️ But is not enough to get a job

Frankly speaking, you can’t get a good job if you think reactJs is enough.

React is ❤️ but not enough

Why can’t you land a good job?

Okay, so the big question why I think so and why I believe that the title is not bogus and misleading. I have some points to support the above argument

  1. React is not that hard to get started and learn.
  2. React is the new python.
  3. People think react is enough on its own.

so the above points may seem gibberish to some but let me explain first of all learning curve of react is not that steep if you see its popular counterpart that is Angular and that’s why any new dev prefer to learn react and also if you see react is in trend there are many jobs out there than any other frontend framework due to which almost all the frontend devs have knowledge of react or trying to learn react and because of which the recruiter or the hiring person has a lot option to choose from and people don’t stand out. Isn’t it obvious if you have two options and both of them have basic options you will look into the possibility of what extra options one is offering?

How to land a good job?

So now we come to the part of how can we land a job if only react is not enough. don’t panic you still can get a job you don’t have to be a wizard or an expert on the subject all you need a little more effort and curiosity. So below are the points that I think will help you

  1. Understand the 3W (What ,When ,Why) of react.
  2. Build an extra skill with react (nodejs, cloud ,ci-cd etc.)
  3. Understand why it’s in trend
  4. Understand the underlying technology that is JS.
  5. Build projects from scratch, not that tutorial ones. Make some idea of your own.

I think if you do 50% of the points I mentioned above you are more than ready to land a good job.

Note:

Above are just my thoughts and all the things I heard from people getting into frontend development and I might be wrong but above is just my view on reactjs and why it is not enough.

Feel free to reach out to me in case you want to discuss or need advice on the same topic. Just so you know I am not a coding wizard I am just a regular dev that had some personal opinion on how you might be able to land a job.
